Perhaps our most popular pest control call here at Clean Sweep Pest Management is the sugar ant! Being one of our most prevalent calls, we have refined our treatments for these little nuisances in to something that we are really proud of, oftentimes with homeowners noticing immediate effects.

The majority of the time the calls that we receive regarding sugar ants in Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Palm City, Okeechobee areas are actually ghost ants, the true sugar ant is a species not too often seen on our jobs, however to make things easy we will just stick to the sugar ant name. 

• Sugar ant colonies can be large in size, with several sub-colonies. Often times when a client notices them in one particular area, that is actually a sub-colony stemming from the main colony as a whole. This can often make do-it-yourself treatments frustrating as the ants ‘keep coming back’.
• Sugar ants are small, often hard to see, and have a very distinguished behavior compared to fire ants, pharaoh ants, carpenter ants, etc.
• Due to their size sugar ants can nest in some of the hardest to access places in our homes choosing protected voids, baseboards, cabinets, carpet edges, etc.
• Ghost ants, like the true sugar ant, love sweets! This most likely is where the name is commonly used interchangeably. 
• Sugar ants have high moisture needs, which leads to the most popular areas for them to take up residence being our kitchens and bathrooms.
